Terms of Service

Draft v0.1 (owner-commissioned, 2026-07-16). Placeholder-grade until launch: have a real lawyer read this before the site takes money or the app hits the store. Effective date: set at launch.

Welcome to Diner Detours. We map the diners, drive-ins, dives, and roadside legends featured on food shows and creator feeds, and we help you route a drive through the ones worth the exit.

These terms are a real agreement, but we've written them like people, because you're a person and so are we. The short version: be decent, don't wreck things, understand that restaurants close and roads change, and let us run the service you're using.

1. Who we are

Diner Detours ("we", "us") runs dinerdetours.com and the Diner Detours app. Contact us any time at hello@dinerdetours.com.

2. Your account

You can browse without an account. Some features (saving spots, building trips, syncing between the website and the app) need one. You can sign up with Google, with Apple, or with an email address and password. Keep your sign-in to yourself; you're responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else got in, tell us and we'll help.

3. Your stuff

Things you create here (saved lists, trips, notes, reviews, photos, and anything else you add) are yours. We don't own them.

But for the service to work at all, we need your permission to use what you create: when you save a trip, we have to store it; when you share a list, we have to display it. So you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, adapt (for formatting), and share your content as needed to run, improve, and promote Diner Detours. This license exists so the site can function. It ends for content you delete, except where a copy has already been shared with others or we're required to keep it.

Don't post things you don't have the right to post, and don't post anything hateful, illegal, or designed to hurt someone. We can remove content that breaks these rules.

4. Our stuff

The Diner Detours name, logo, design, software, and databases are ours. The shows, networks, and creators we reference are not us: we're an independent guide, not affiliated with or endorsed by any show, network, or restaurant unless we explicitly say so.

5. The information itself

We work hard to keep restaurant information fresh, and freshness is the whole point of this product. But restaurants close, hours change, and the place that filmed an episode in 2008 may be a vape shop today. Always check before you drive out of your way. The information here is a guide, not a guarantee, and you use it at your own judgment. Please don't interact with the app while driving.

6. Paying the bills

Diner Detours is free to browse today. To keep it running, we may show ads, use affiliate links (we mark them, and we only earn when you choose to use them), and offer paid features or subscriptions in the future. If something costs money, we'll say so clearly before you pay, including what it costs and how to cancel. We won't retroactively charge for something you already had for free without telling you plainly.

7. Ending things

You can delete your account whenever you like (see the Privacy Policy for how). We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms, abuse the service, or create legal risk. If we close your account without cause on our side, we'll say why.

8. The unavoidable legal part

The service is provided "as is". To the maximum extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect damages, lost profits, spoiled road trips, closed restaurants, traffic, or the emotional damage of a sold-out burnt-ends tray. Our total liability for anything related to the service is capped at the greater of $50 or what you paid us in the last 12 months. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

9. Changes

We'll update these terms as the product grows. For meaningful changes we'll post a notice on the site or email account holders before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.

Drive hungry. Check before you exit.
